Estimation of EDZ zones in great depths by elastic-plastic models

This contribution is devoted to modeling damage zones caused by the excavation of tunnels and boreholes (EDZ zones) in connection with the issue of deep storage of spent nuclear fuel in crystalline rocks. In particular, elastic-plastic models with Mohr-Coulomb or Hoek-Brown yield criteria are considered. Selected details of the numerical solution to the corresponding problems are mentioned. Possibilities of elastic and elastic-plastic approaches are illustrated by a numerical example.

Solving an elasto-plastic problems by Newton-like methods

In this contribution, we will apply the semismooth Newton methods with and without damping to solving a one-time step problem in elesto-plasticity. First, we briefly describe the elasto-plastic model and formulate the corresponding one-time step problem in the form of the non-linear variational equation. Then we characterize the used numerical methods. Finally, we illustrate the methods on a 2D numerical example.

Modifikovaná nehladká Newtonova metoda: numerický příklad

V příspěvku je studována nehladká Newtonova metoda s tlumením. Metoda je popsána a její konvergence analyzována na abstraktní úloze. Pomocí zkoumané metody je řešena úloha elasto-plasticity. Některé teoretické výsledky jsou pak ilustrovány na numerickém příkladě.
